This is an appeal from the superior court’s denial of appellant’s petition for writ of mandate. Appellant, on May 26, 1977, pled guilty to a violation of section 23102, subdivision (a) of the Vehicle Code, driving a vehicle upon a public highway while under the influence of an intoxicating liquor. Appellant waived his right to counsel and represented himself at the time he entered his plea of guilty. On August 3, 1979, appellant moved the Municipal Court of Ventura County to strike his conviction of May 26, 1977, on the two grounds that appellant had not intelligently waived…
