SULLIVAN, District Judge.

This is a suit in conversion to recover from the defendants the value of certain stocks of which the plaintiff and his assignors claim ownership, and which are alleged to have been wrongfully converted by the defendants.

The defendant Thomson & McKinnon is a copai-tnership, and now is, and prior to July, 1933, was, engaged in the stock brokerage business, with its principal office in New York City, and maintaining branch offices in Chicago, 111.; Toronto, Canada; Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minn.; and Boston, Mass.
