On April 30, 1914, the p"olice jury for the parish of St. Landry en-. tered into two separate contracts, one with the Alexandria Gravel Company to furnish 25,000 to 30,000 cubic yards of pit-run gravel to be delivered to different switches on railroads for the purpose of paving four different highways running into the city of Opelousas. The gravel company gave bond in the sum of $8,550, with the Southwestern Security Company as security for the faithful performance of the contract.
