BAKER, J.

Ewan Richards (appellant) appeals from his Norfolk Circuit Court (trial court) bench trial conviction of possession of cocaine with intent to distribute. He alleges that he was illegally detained by the arresting officers at the Norfolk International Airport (airport) and asserts that the trial court erred in overruling his motion to suppress evidence obtained as a result of the initial encounter.
