Sylvia Crist (“Crist”) sued Carnival Corporation for negligence, alleging that it maintained an unsafe staircase that caused her trip-and-fall injuries while she was a passenger on Carnival’s cruise ship. Crist appeals following the district court’s grant of Carnival’s motion for summary judgment. The district court granted Carnival’s motion because the suit was filed after the expiration of the one-year contractual limitation period found in Crist’s cruise ticket.
