Bell, Judge:
Sheila Shepard, the Administratrix of the estate of Shirley Mae Mack, brought these statutory actions for wrongful death and survival against the South Carolina Department of Corrections and the South Carolina Department of Highways and Public Transportation. The individual defendants are various officers and servants of the two Departments. The cases were tried before the circuit court sitting without a jury.
