In April, 1921, several actions were brought to recover upon policies of marine insurance issued by each of the appellants to the respondent covering the steamship Ferdinand Schlesinger, lost in Lake Superior May 26, 1919. The appellants are foreign insurance companies which have not appointed the insurance commissioner of this state as their agent to receive service of process and have no office or official representative in Minnesota.
