Delaware McDonald’s Corp. (McDonald’s) appeals from a judgment of the United States Magistrate 1 finding McDonald’s liable to Dr. John A. Mahoney under the doctrine of promissory estoppel for failing to execute a lease upon a newly purchased building. For reversal, McDonald’s argues that the magistrate erred as follows: (1) in concluding that one Jack Baringer had apparent authority to act on behalf of McDonald’s, (2) in concluding that liability existed under the doctrine of promissory estoppel, and (3) in calculating the amount of damages.
