LARSON, Chief Judge:

Contrary to his pleas, the appellant was convicted by general court-martial, military judge sitting alone, of two specifications of aggravated assault under Article 128, Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ), 10 U.S.C. § 928, by wrongfully engaging in unprotected sexual intercourse with two different women while infected with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV).1 He was sentenced to confinement for 4 years, forfeiture of all pay and allowances, reduction to pay grade E-l, and a bad-conduct discharge.
