Procedural Background

Defendants appeal from a judgment adverse to them that followed the trial court’s order granting respondent’s motion for summary judgment; appellants’ motion for reconsideration of that order was subsequently denied.

On November 3, 1980, appellants filed their notice of appeal from the order granting summary judgment, from the denial of the motion for reconsideration, and from the judgment entered on September 5, 1980; however, only the judgment itself is properly appealable to this court.
