In this race-discrimination lawsuit, plaintiff Willie Mae Rawlinson, an African American, sued her former employer, defendant Whitney National Bank, under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as amended, 42 U.S.C.A. §§ 1981a, 2000e through 2000e-17. Rawlinson asserts two claims: (1) that, while working as a Whitney Bank teller, she was subjected to racially disparate treatment; and (2) that the bank eventually terminated her employment because her race.
