Rhonda Castellana bought an automobile from Conyers Toyota, Inc. (CTI). The car was repossessed by CTI and she sued for conversion in October 1988. At all times pertinent to this action CTI was open and doing business at 945 Iris Drive in Conyers, Georgia. The sale was negotiated at the Iris Drive location, and all the contract documents Castellana signed in connection with the transaction showed that address. However, in arranging service of the summons and complaint, her attorney contacted the Secretary of State’s office and was erroneously told that CTI’s registered agent…
