The defendant, Ralph Byrd, was convicted, after a jury trial, of manslaughter in the first degree in violation of General Statutes § 53a-55 (a) (l).1 *518He appealed from the trial court’s judgment to the Appellate Court. The Appellate Court affirmed the judgment of the trial court. State v. Byrd, 34 Conn. App. 368, 385, 641 A.2d 818 (1994).
