Plaintiffs are women who are employed in the Pasco Police Department. Since the commencement of this case, three plaintiffs are no longer connected with the action. Remaining are Beggs, Ralls and Supplee who were all hired by the Pasco Police Department prior to March 1, 1970. On that date, the Washington Law Enforcement Officers' and Fire Fighters' Retirement System Act (LEOFF) went into effect. Laws of 1970, 1st Ex. Sess., ch. 6, § 2(1), p. 35.
