The plaintiff is the administratrix of Alexander Badham, her former husband, and the defendant is the father of her intestate. The plaintiff alleges that the defendant was the owner of a vacant lot in the town of Edenton, and upon the marriage of her intestate the defendant proposed to him that, if he would build upon and improve said vacant lot, it should be his; that he would make him a fee simple title to it; that upon this agreement her intestate entered upon said lot, and greatly improved the same, by erecting a dwelling and other outhouses thereon, which improvements greatly enhanced…
