OPINION
TIPTON, Judge.
The defendant, Harold Homer Thompson, was convicted in a jury trial in the Morgan County Criminal Court of aggravated kidnapping, assault with intent to commit voluntary manslaughter, illegal possession of explosives and attempted escape for which he received an effective sentence of twenty-seven years as a Range II, multiple offender.
