Robinson, seeking federal habeas corpus relief for the first time, contends that the instructions given at his trial improperly placed the burden of proof of an alibi defense upon him, and that that error was not harmless.
On June 14,1973, Robinson was convicted in the Circuit Court for Calvert County, Maryland, Judge Bowen presiding, of murder in the first degree, assault with intent to murder, attempted robbery with a deadly weapon, and the unlawful use of a handgun.
