OPINION OF THE COURT

JOHNSTON, Judge:

Consistent with his pleas, the appellant, a sergeant with eighteen-and-one-half years of service, was convicted by a military judge sitting as a general court-martial of two specifications of assault consummated by a battery on his children who were under the age of sixteen, in violation of Article 128, Uniform Code of Military Justice, 10 U.S.C. § 928 (1982) [hereinafter UCMJ].
