Appellant Thomas Wayne Riordan was charged by indictment with the offense of possession of a controlled substance, to wit: methamphetamine in an amount less than twenty-eight grams. Following a hearing, appellant’s motion to suppress evidence was overruled. Appellant then entered a plea of nolo contendere to the indictment in a bench trial. In accordance with a plea bargain agreement, the trial court deferred adjudication of guilt, placed appellant on “probation” for eight years and imposed a fíne of one thousand dollars.
