When our forefathers “ordained and established” the Constitution of the United States, one of their specified purposes was “to establish justice.” Toward this end, a separate judicial branch was created as a co-equal with the other branches of government. Throughout the history of this country, the courts have been charged with the solemn responsibility of safeguarding the rights of our citizens.
