The defendant was indicted by the Grand Jury of the City and County of San Francisco, for the crime of manslaughter in the killing of Edward Perkins at the Farallone Islands, on the 4th of June, 1863. The defendant pleaded not guilty, and was afterward tried and convicted and sentenced to be imprisoned in the State Prison for one year.
