“All happy families are alike; each unhappy family is unhappy in its own way.” 1 This case presents to us the affairs of the uniquely unhappy Pittman family of Magnolia, Arkansas. A struggle for control of the family business spawned five lawsuits. Hortica-Florists’ Mutual Insurance Com pany (Hortica), insurer for Pittman Nursery Corporation (PNC), filed a declaratory judgment action to clarify its obligation to provide a defense.
