This case originally arose out of a controversy between Defendant Prudential Insurance Company of America (“Prudential”) and Plaintiff Mary Jo Weber (“Weber”). Prudential provided life insurance benefits with a death benefit in the amount of $200,000 to Weber’s son, David Amerine (“David”), a member of the U.S. Navy who was insured under Servicemembers’ Group Policy G-32000.
