Deregulation of the electricity market under the Electricity Generation Customer Choice and Competition Act 1 (Choice Act), has permitted all residential customers of electric distribution companies 2 (EDC) in the Commonwealth to choose their electricity generation supplier 3 (EGS) and have that electricity distributed to them by the EDC in their area.
