Plaintiffs, a class consisting of State “employees within the Human Services and Administrative Support bargaining units who have not signed an Authorization for Deduction of Representation Service Fee,” filed the instant action challenging the enforcement of the union security clause in the collective bargaining agreement between the State of Michigan (“the State”) and the International Union, United Automobile, Aerospace and Agricultural Implement Workers of America (“UAW”) and its Local 6000-UAW (“Local 6000”).
