The magnitude of the interests involved, the novelty of this case in some of its features, the fact that the documentary title on which the defendants to a certain extent rely, was obtained from Mexico pending the war between that country and this, a few weeks prior to the occupation of this country by the American forces, the allegation that such documentary title was procured by a conspiracy to defraud the United States and was forged and ante-dated,—are circumstances which have invested this case with no ordinary interest outside these walls.
