This is a maritime personal injury suit filed by a United States citizen against his employer, a corporation formed under the law of the United Arab Emirates, and the owner and operator of a jack-up drilling rig, a Delaware corporation with its principal place of business in Dallas, Texas. Plaintiff was injured aboard the rig off the coast of the United Arab Emirates. Under the general maritime law of the United States, a jury determined that the rig was unseawor-thy, that its owner and plaintiffs employer were negligent, and awarded substantial damages.…
