The issue in this case is whether the injunction granted the patentee is overly broad, and, if so, what is the proper remedy. International Rectifier Corporation (“IR”) is the assignee of U.S. Patent No. 6,476,481 (“the '481 patent”), which relates to semiconductor device “packages.” On the day the patent issued, IR filed a patent infringement suit against IXYS Corporation (“IXYS”) in the United States District Court for the Central District of California.
