In 1958, acting pursuant to the terms of the Convention of 1868 (15 Stat. 629) as amended by the Supplementary Convention of 1885 (24 Stat. 1001), concerning the extradition of fugitive criminals between Italy and the United States, the Republic of Italy requested the Secretary of State of the United States to secure the preliminary arrest of one Vincenzo Gallina, with a view to his extradition.
