Plaintiffs Atalanta Corporation, Amilite Corporation and IBM Corporation, United States corporations with their principal places of business in New York, allege that on or about October 25, 1985, they each delivered a cargo of merchandise for shipment from Helsinki, Finland, to the Port of New York, 1 and received a clean, on-board through bill of lading from one of three carriers (collectively the “Through-Carriers”).
