In this appeal, the defendants, Wolfeboro Railroad Co., Inc. and Wolfeboro Railroad Associates, challenge the judgment of $28,764.74 entered by the Superior Court (Wyman, J.) in favor of the plaintiff, Everett Albee. We affirm in part and reverse in part.

The defendants own and operate an excursion railroad between Wolfeboro and Wakefield. From January through December 1980, the plaintiff rendered to the defendants materials and services for which he periodically submitted invoices, including invoices for July, August, and September for interest, at varying rates, on the outstanding debt.
