This action was brought against the defendants Manson, Schmitz, Woodward and Casey, members of and constituting the board of public works of the city and county of San Francisco, and against the other defendants as sureties upon their official bonds, to recover damages for personal injuries sustained by plaintiff by falling off a sidewalk in the city and county of San Francisco, alleged to have been in a defective condition and dangerous to the traveling public.
