On a canvass of the votes cast at the recent election of officers in the city of Leavenworth, George W. Kierstead was declared to be elected to the office of councilman.- W. W. Carney, who was an opposing candidate for the same office, instituted a contest before the city council in pursuance of a city ordinance purporting to authorize a contest.
