Husband appeals from a dissolution judgment, seeking a reduction in the amount and duration of the spousal support award. On de novo review, we modify the award.

This was an 18-year marriage that produced no children. Wife’s daughter from a previous marriage, who lived with the parties for a time, is now an adult. Husband, who is 50 years old and in good health, is a long-time employee of Tele-dyne Wah Chang. In 1988, his gross earnings were $47,366. Wife, age 47, suffers from severe headaches three to four days per month. She has a bachelor’s degree in chemistry, which she received in 1969.…
