The plaintiffs sued the defendant corporation in trespass, alleging the defendant to be their landlord and to have been negligent in permitting conditions to exist, upon the leased premises located in Lehigh County, which caused injury to the plaintiff Emma Litomy.

The defendant was served with the writ by the Sheriff of Berks County, acting upon deputization from the Sheriff of Lehigh County, handing a copy of the summons to the defendant’s secretary in Reading, Berks County, the return showing that the defendant had no office or place of business in Lehigh County and that no…
