The importation is tabasco sauce which was made in America, shipped from New Orleans to England in bottles. While there caps and printed labels of foreign make were attached to the bottles, and in that condition, with metallic sprinklers, which were in little boxes containing a gross in each box, designed tó be attached to the bottles when their contents were used, was reimported to the United States and entered at the port of New York.
The goods were assessed for duty under paragraph 241 of the tariff act of July 24, 1897, and the sauce and bottles were claimed to be exempt from duty under…
