The controversy in this case arises out of the requisitioning in 1917 by the United States of the hulls of four steamships under construction by the Great Lakes Engineering Works and the contracts for their completion, whereby the plaintiff claims its predecessor in interest was deprived of the right to operate the steamships when completed on the initial voyage from New York to France and the profits that would have resulted therefrom by reason of which it was greatly damaged.
