Appellants James Clark and Dan Profitt brought this suit on behalf of the estate of James R. Meadors 1 against Amoco Production Co. and several other oil companies claiming a one-eighth interest in minerals extracted from land in Jefferson County, Texas, that include the famed Spindletop Oil Field. 2 In their complaint, Clark and Profitt allege they are the administrators of Meadors’ estate.
