HAROLD H. GREENE, District Judge.

Plaintiff, a 51 year old man, was employed as Manager, Reservations Control, by the National Railroad Passenger Corporation (Amtrak) from August 1972 until May 1981. Because of reduced funding, Amtrak terminated plaintiff, as well as a number of other employees in its Washington, D.C. headquarters, as part of a major reduction in force. Thereafter, plaintiff brought this lawsuit on behalf of .himself and other similarly situated employees, alleging that Amtrak discriminato-rily terminated his employment, and rejected his subsequent applications for…
