The dispositive issue of this appeal is whether the plaintiffs, a Connecticut municipality and *316its mayor, have standing to assert the various causes of action that they have alleged against the defendants, who are various firearms manufacturers, trade associations and retail sellers.1 The plaintiffs, the city of Bridgeport and its mayor, Joseph P.
