Plaintiff, Margaret Grove, filed this negligence action in the circuit court of Cook County against defendant, the City of Park Ridge (City), for injuries she sustained in an accident that occurred after stepping into a pothole on a public roadway maintained by the City. The City moved for summary judgment pursuant to section 2 — 1005 of the Illinois Code of Civil Procedure (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1987, ch. 110, par. 2 — 1005) which the trial court denied.
