This action was brought on May 8, 1946, by 21 of the living members of the fire department of the city of Vincennes, Indiana, and by the heirs or representatives of four deceased members, to recover from that city certain amounts deducted from the firemen’s salaries from July 1, 1982, through 1937.
All were duly and legally appointed and employed as members of said fire department. All subscribed to an oath and qualified in the manner provided by law. From July 1, 1932, through 1937 they received varying percentages (for the most part 10%) less than their salaries as fixed by city ordinance…
