Appeal from a judgment of the superior court for Pierce county, Chapman, J., entered November 22, 1902, upon the verdict of a jury rendered in favor of tbe plaintiff for $7,500 for personal injuries, sustained by a log deck man employed in defendant’s mill.

Respondent brought this action against the appellant to recover for personal injuries. The cause was tried to the court and a jury, which returned a verdict in favor of the plaintiff for $7,500. The defendant appeals from a judgment on the verdict.
At the trial there was very little dispute upon the facts in the casej which are substantially as follows: The appellant owns and operates a lumber manufacturing plant, in Ta*281coma, at which, plant a large number of men are employed.
