The action is brought to recover for the loss of a case of fine watches shipped from France to New York. The claim was assigned to Lemuel S. Matthews, whose name appears in the title as the relator. It is asserted that the appellant P. H. Keahon, Inc., caused or suffered the loss and that it and the appellant bonding company should respond to plaintiff therefor. P. H. Keahon, Inc., was under contract with the United States government to cart all packages and articles imported into the United States and landed at the port of New York, from the ships to the appraisers’ warehouse in…
