The government appeals from the judgment of the United States District Court for the District of Connecticut (Stefan R. Underhill, Judge), granting Defendants Appellee Warren Hawkins’s motion for an acquittal notwithstanding the verdict pursuant to Rule 29(c) of the Federal Rules of Criminal Procedure. The District Court found that, although the government proved that Hawkins purchased cocaine from what he knew was a cocaine-distribution conspiracy and that the head of the conspiracy knew of Hawkins’s intent to resell the cocaine, the government’s evidence that Hawkins…
