OPINION

MURRAY, Justice.

The United States District Court for the District of Rhode Island has certified this products liability action to this court for determination of a single question of law. The suit arose from a one-vehicle accident in which the plaintiff’s wife, Maureen Swa-jian, was killed. Prior to trial the plaintiff moved in limine to preclude all evidence of Mrs. Swajian’s use or nonuse of an available seat belt. Recognizing that the motion rested on an unsettled issue of Rhode Island law, Senior Judge Raymond J. Pet-tine certified the following question to this court pursuant to…
