On August 14, 1947, a group of persons acting as individuals and as representatives of various municipalities and civic organizations filed a petition with the Illinois Commerce Commission, praying that the Wabash Railroad Company be ordered to install additional suburban trains between Orland Park and Chicago, and to furnish new and improved equipment.
