The Macon City and Suburban Railway Company laid one of its lines of railway in one of the streets of the City of Macon, under and by virtue of a contract between it and the city. Subsequently the Macon Consolidated Street Railroad Company acquired the rights and franchises of the Macon City and Suburban Railway Company. Thereafter, on July 26, 1899, the legislative body of the city passed a resolution requiring the street-railway company to remove its tracks from the side to the center of a named street.
