Matthew Sylvester Two Bulls was charged with aggravated sexual abuse, 18 U.S.C. §§ 1153, 2241(a)(1) (1989), and sexual abuse of a minor, 18 U.S.C. §§ 1153, 2243 (1989), arising out of the rape of a fourteen-year-old girl on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota. The police seized the underwear the girl was wearing before and after the incident. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) laboratory isolated the semen stain on her underwear by using a scientific technique called DNA (Deoxyribonucleic Acid) 1 profiling.
