Under the Maryland Workers’ Compensation Act (“the Act”), Md. Code Ann., Lab. & Empl. (1991, 2008 Repl. Vol.) (“LE”) §§ 9-101 to 9-1201, a “covered employee” is entitled to compensation from his or her employer for an accidental personal injury. See LE § 9 — 501(a)(1) (“Except as otherwise provided, each employer of a covered employee shall provide compensation in accordance with this title to[] the covered employee for an accidental personal injury sustained by the covered employee[.]” (Paragraph break omitted)).
